The year was 1971 and things were very different back then.  The United States was still involved in the war in Vietnam, while the society was in flux over so many social issues.  It was a time of turmoil and unrest, no doubt, but there are some things that just can’t be changed, no matter what era.

First Officer John Drake is Derek Hart’s latest hero, yet perhaps it’s the ship that takes center stage in this latest adventure.  The Princess Carla is the setting for a tale of love and intrigue, romance and excitement, with some international criminals thrown in for good measure.  Indeed Drake is handsome, dashing, and certainly entertaining, but it’s Interpol Agent Raylene Capri who creates all the mystery and torrid romance.

Danger Cruise takes place during a one week roundtrip cruise from San Juan, Puerto Rico with several scenic stops in between.  While the characters and certain events are fictional, not only is the cruise timeframe based on fact, but all the details about life aboard the Carla during those days are true, right down to the movies shown, the live shows, and the food served.

Derek Hart effectively blends real life on a cruise ship with intrigue and romance, propelling the capable John Drake straight into the arms of the equally gifted Raylene Capri.  As an independent fashion designer and manager of Musical Fantasy, a Las Vegas Review dance show, she’s not only beautiful but concealing something too.  However, complications arise when this man and woman fall in love, so everything becomes far more interesting and dangerous.

Recent Reviews

The Princess Carla Cruise Ship was making its week’s journey to Curacao, stopping over in St. Thomas/St. John, Martinique, Trinidad, Venezuela, then straight to Curacao before returning to San Juan.

John Drake knew this ship like the back of his hand. He loved the Princess Carla and he was just waiting for his time to come, when he would be Captain of his own ship.

Drake could feel the excitement in the air as the passengers boarded. He knew this voyage would be different, but he didn’t bank on how exciting this voyage really would be.

Drake hasn’t had much luck with finding the right woman for him. He just didn’t want to have sex, he wanted more, and almost gave up searching, that was, until Raylene Capri bumped into him. He was immediately drawn to her and she was to him. But, both had secrets that they weren’t willing to share just yet.

There is so much action in DANGER CRUISE that I can’t even begin to explain. If you’re looking for a passionate romance story, mixed in with danger, murder, robbery, and a smashing ending, than this is the book for you and you should read it as soon as possible. Derek Hart has told this story so well that you’d almost believe you were a passenger on the Princess Carla. I enjoyed DANGER CRUISE and highly recommend it to everyone.

The luxury ship, The Princess Carla sets sail for a one-week cruise with an assortment of interesting passengers aboard. To First Officer John Drake the most interesting is fashion designer, Raylene Capri. His life changes from the moment they meet. John is a one-woman man, and he wants Raylene to be that woman. Raylene boarded The Princess Carla with one thing in mind, and it wasn't to fall in love with John. She soon discovers that her heart has its own agenda. Raylene has a job to do, and she can't let love get in the way. She knows that she is not the person John believes her to be. When he learns the truth will he still want her? Hart's research of what life was like on a cruise ship hits the mark. If you'd like to take a trip back to the 70's and indulge in a cruise on a luxury liner you'll won't come any closer than Danger Cruise.
