Poetry is a very personal form of expression. Sometimes the images of the mind can only be properly communicated in verse. I was a student of proper structure, syncopation, and style in college, but I seldom express my feelings, thoughts, and images by following accepted rules. I write what I feel and for some people the words deliver powerful images. The majority of the poems found in this collection draw their strength from the emotion called love. As I became an adult, I fell in love and even though the experience can be extremely painful when breaking apart, it was more than wonderful at its zenith. I often wonder if any woman from my past has the slightest idea what power she held over me? I would have done anything for her, but as the relationship changed and sputtered, we both had to deal with disappointment, rejection, sorrow and loss. Yet there were several relationships that truly stand out, because I never wanted them to end and instead pay homage to them with words. Many poems I wrote over the years were delivered as one-of-a-kind gifts and I didn’t save copies, so those verses are forever lost, except to the recipient. I can only hope that occasionally someone reads the words, thereby once again giving them life. I hope you will find at least one poem here that speaks to you. Each verse was written with someone in mind. Only you will know if I was successful in bringing those images to life. These poems are all from the published collection Dangerous (which is sadly out of print. In fact, I was stupid and saved only 1 copy for myself).
